AHF Mozambique
AHF officially launched its program in Mozambique in 2018 with the opening of the Malhampsene Health Centre in Matola, Maputo Province. The facility focuses on providing essential maternal, newborn, and child healthcare services, with a special emphasis on pregnant women and women in the postpartum period. It offers Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) services and HIV Testing Services to ensure the health and well-being of both mothers and their children.
AHF Mozambique works in close partnership with the Ministry of Health to provide integrated, quality HIV care and treatment services in Maputo City and Province, as well as Nampula and Zambezia Provinces. AHF’s efforts have led to successful upgrades in laboratory and health facilities, bridging gaps in materials and equipment, and significantly increasing access to HIV-related services. Additionally, AHF has strengthened existing PMTCT programs and HIV care and treatment services, further improving healthcare delivery in these regions.
In addition to HIV/AIDS care and treatment, AHF Mozambique also provides HIV prevention services, including mobile testing units offering free rapid testing, condom promotion and free distribution, and advocacy and behavior change communication for HIV prevention and treatment retention campaigns. AHF collaborates with international and local NGOs and community-based organizations to raise awareness and mobilize local communities around HIV prevention and retention issues. This collaborative approach ensures that HIV education and resources are accessible to those in need across the country.
