Princess Diana to be honored posthumously with AHF’s Lifetime Achievement Award

LOS ANGELES (28 de novembro de 2022) Fundação de Saúde SIDA (AHF), the world’s largest HIV/AIDS care provider, currently operating in 45 countries, is once again holding a special free concert event to commemorate World AIDS Day, formally observed internationally each year on December 1st. This year also culminates the global organizations 35th aniversário.

In Washington, D.C., AHF will host its Concerto do Dia Mundial da Luta contra a AIDS de 2022 na quarta-feira, 30 de novembroth, where renowned vocalist, and multi-GRAMMY vencedor Patti LaBelle, will return to join AHF in commemorating World AIDS Day performing live, and headlining with multi-GRAMMY winning vocalist, Gladys Knight. Taking place in the prestigious concert hall of The Kennedy Center, located at 2700 F Street, NW, Washington, D.C. (20566), the concert will begin promptly at 7:00pm (EST).

At the event, longtime humanitarian and AIDS advocate, princesa Diana will be honored, posthumously, with AHF’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Under its “Keep the Promise!” banner, AHF will also acknowledge progress made in the global fight against HIV and AIDS and continue to raise awareness about “The Other Pandemic” as a reminder of the significant work still to be done on HIV/AIDS.

“The effects of the AIDS epidemic are very personal for me, as I had many friends and loved ones who passed away from this deadly virus. World AIDS Day allows me to celebrate those lives lost and commemorate their various contributions not only to our personal relationships but also to the music industry,” said Patti LaBelle. “I am pleased to again join forces with AIDS Healthcare Foundation to elevate awareness around HIV/AIDS.  It is crucial for us to understand that this fight is far from over as we are still losing to many precious lives. I’m committed to continue to do my part in bringing awareness to HIV/AIDS, and I encourage others to do the same.”

“World AIDS Day provides an opportunity for us to honor the lives that have been lost to this epidemic, while reminding our political leaders and the community-at-large, of the work still to be done,” said Michael Weinstein, president of AHF. “As we take this opportunity to elevate the work needed around HIV/AIDS, we also celebrate the transformative work that has been done. From providing compassionate AIDS hospice care in those darkest early days to growing to become the largest global AIDS organization today, now providing lifesaving care and treatment to more than 1.7 million people around the globe. As we mark and mourn, we also celebrate all those who help make today’s AHF possible: our staff, Board, affiliate organizations and affinity groups, friends, family and elected officials and community partners across the globe, but most of all, our clients and patients—with our 2022 World AIDS Day event. We are thrilled to be presenting our first World AIDS Day event at the prestigious concert hall at The Kennedy Center and have Patti LaBelle join us again, and be joined by another great American icon, Gladys Knight, while also being able to honor the legacy and humanitarian work of Princess Diana”
